FAQ

How is the jewelry made?

I hand sketch and digitally sculpt every design, which can take a few hours to many days depending on how intricate it is. My digital models then get 3d printed in wax, and are cast in metal using the lost wax casting method. I check over every piece thoroughly and do any necessary finishing work including fixing errors in the design that may have occurred during casting, cutting away sprues, and polishing.

All work is done in the United States in small quantities.

Can I wear your jewelry with a metal sensitivity?

If you know yourself to be sensitive to metals in general, I do not recommend buying my jewelry at this time, unless you already own a product for coating the jewelry to make it skin safe. However, I am currently experimenting with options to clear coat my jewelry both as a way to protect it and for anyone with metal sensitivities. If you are interested, send me an email and I'll let you know when it's available.

How do I care for my jewelry? Will it tarnish?

It is natural over time for bronze, brass, and silver jewelry to tarnish. Bronze in particular can develop a beautiful patina that brings out its deeper rose and copper tones. If you wish to avoid tarnish, prevention is better than frequent polishing as every time you polish a little metal is removed.

General care: Your jewelry is best stored in a dry, clean environment. Do not wear in the shower or swimming. All jewelry is sent with blue anti-tarnish cloth and can be stored in the cloth if desired. You can also keep them in a small, air-tight plastic bag. These options can slow the rate of tarnish. Also provided is a yellow polishing cloth. This cloth has polishing material in it and is gently abrasive. Best used sparingly for harder to remove tarnish.

Brass and Bronze: Moisture in the air or on your skin may speed the rate of tarnish. Pendants can be gently wiped with a soft cloth after being worn. For light tarnish and general brightening of your brass and bronze jewelry, please see here

Silver: Sterling silver benefits from being worn regularly, and your skin's natural oils should help keep it shiny. If tarnished, try cleaning it first with a gentle soap, clean water, and a soft cloth. Always pat dry thoroughly. For jewelry that needs a little extra love, use the yellow polishing cloth sparingly, or invest in a professional silver jewelry polish.

Can I buy a design in a different metal?

In most cases, yes! If you are interested in buying a design in a different metal than it's offered in, please contact me. I can provide you details about the production time and price for the design of your choice.
