Bronze Jewelry Polishing Recipe

Before using this recipe, I recommend washing your item with a few drops of gentle soap in warm water. Sometimes that is all that's needed!

This is a simple and fairly gentle recipe for polishing your bronze or brass jewelry at home. It removes the dull color and tarnish that may arise over time.

Dissolve ½ tsp salt in 1 tsp white vinegar and a ¼ cup water. Place tarnished piece in the solution for 5 to 10 minutes. If the tarnish doesn't seem to be lightening at all, you can extend to 20 minutes. After this time, remove and gently rub all over with clean fingers or a soft, damp cloth, focusing on any places that need it. Rinse with cool water.

In a second, clean bowl, mix 1½ teaspoons baking soda in ½ cup water and dip jewelry in solution. This neutralizes the acid on the surface. Pat thoroughly dry.

If further polishing seems necessary, gently use the provided polishing cloth that came with your order or a professional polish suitable for bronze and brass.
